Facebook Stays on Top in Africa Amidst TikTok's Surge

Even while TikTok is gaining popularity, Facebook remains the leading social media platform in Africa, according to a report by GeoPoll on Social Media Usage. The report indicates a consistent rise in social media users on the continent, exceeding 384 million in 2023. With 170 million active users, Facebook is unique as it represents approximately 44 percent of African social media enthusiasts. Additionally, the survey uncovered that 80 percent of participants acknowledged buying products or services featured in social media advertisements. This underscores the noteworthy influence of social media on e-commerce and advertising in Africa.
